Zambia was crowned the winner of the 2022 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup after defeating Namibia 1-0 in the final held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa on Sunday July 17, 2022.

The tensed final saw an unlucky own goal by goalkeeper Edward Maova from a thunderous shot by Albert Kangwanda in the 21st minute of the extra time, proved to be the difference.

The victory moved the Copper Bullets to level with Zimbabwe as the teams with the most titles since the tournament began in 2017.

Earlier, Africa champions Senegal beat Mozambique 4-2 on penalties in the 3rd/4th play-off match held at the same venue. Jean Diouf had put the West African guests into the lead with a 78th-minute penalty before Pachoio Lau Há King leveled matters with almost the last kick of regulation time in the 93rd minute.

The COSAFA Cup is an annual tournament for teams from Southern Africa organized by Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA), inaugurated after the ban against the Republic of South Africa had been lifted and the African Cup of Nations had been staged there in 1996.
