Ghana have been dealt a major blow ahead of the 2022 World Cup which kicks off in seven days.

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori has reportedly been ruled out of the tournament after sustaining an injury against Amazulu in the South African Premier Soccer League on Friday night.

The 28 year old was subbed off ten minutes into the second half after picking up the knock.

Further tests conducted by the club’s medical team have confirmed the player won’t be fit in time for the global showpiece.

This latest development comes as a major blow for Black Stars coach Otto Addo who is also sweating over the fitness of first choice goalkeeper Joojo Wollacot.

The injuries may present an opportunity for Asante Kotoko’s Danlad Ibrahim and Lawrence Ati Zigi to stake their claim for the number 1 spot in Qatar.

Otto Addo is expected to name his final 26-man squad on Monday.

The Black Stars are in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
