37-year-old Bawumia is on the run after butchering his girlfriend at Gyapongkrom, a village in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.
According to Emmanuel Sowah, Bawumia and Ama Kobre, the victim, are not married but concubines.
The incident which occurred yesterday has rendered Ama unconscious after receiving severe cutlass wounds on parts of her body.
Bawumia is currently at large whilst the victim is receiving treatment at the Juaboso Government Hospital.
During his report on Onua TV/FM’s morning news, Emmanuel Sowah added the Ama had lost a lot of blood by the time the police arrived, even though not dead, but unconscious.
Family of the victim has indicated they have heard of the relationship between Ama and Bawumia but do not know him.
Police are currently pursuing the suspect.
