Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak played out a 1-1 draw in the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League on Sunday.

It was a scrappy game in truth, with both sides guilty of petty fouls. But it was entertaining to watch nonetheless as the country’s two biggest clubs took centre stage at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The hosts started the game brightly forcing Hearts goalkeeper Ayi to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute.

Kotoko enjoyed a lion-share of the possession statistic in the opening exchanges while Hearts of Oak slowly warmed up to the tempo of the match.

The Phobians best chance of the half fell to Obeng Jnr who found the side of net after receiving a pass from Isaac Mensah.

Chances were few and far between as the first half petered out into 0-0 draw.

After the recess, the Porcupine Warriors once again began the half on the front foot.

Kotoko perhaps should have taken the lead in the 50th minute but Mukwala fired his shot off target when through on goal.

But the deadlock was finally broken when Yusif Mubarak found himself at the end of a quickly taken free kick which resulted in a 55th minute goal.

The Phobians reacted well after going down and began to probe Kotoko’s defense for an equaliser.

The visitors did not get much joy until late in the game when Caleb Amankwah scored to ensure the spoils where shared in Kumasi.
