Ghana international Kamaldeen Sulemana has completed his switch to Southampton from Rennes for a club record fee of £22m on transfer deadline day.

The 20-year-old signed a four-and-half-year contract with the English Premier League side.

Sulemana made three appearances for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and was recorded running at 35.7kph (22.2mph) – in the last game against Uruguay which made him the quickest player at the tournament.

Despite the injuries, the winger featured 20 times for Rennes this season, scoring once and setting up two goals.

Southampton are at the foot of the English Premier League table after week 20.
