Samuel Kobina Agyemang, a 35-year-old farmer is in the grips of the Agona Swedru Police Command for attempting to sell his 2-year-old daughter for GH₵20,000.00.

Reporting on Onua FM’s Midday bulletin, Central Regional Correspondent, Nana Yaw Asare says the Agona Asafo-based farmer says he has been impoverished all his life despite his hard work as a farmer.

In his usual conversations with friends, he said he had intentions of selling his daughter to start a new life elsewhere.

Even though both parents reside at Agona Asafo in the Agona East District of the Central Region, they stay at separate places.

Nana has been reporting that, Kobina takes his child with him to spend some time once in a while.

Upon his chats with his friends, they suspected he truly wanted to sell his daughter and reported him to the Agona Swedru Police command who entrapped him with purchasing his daughter.

They made an arrangement and the police, who disguised themselves made a final offer of GH₵20,000.00 after bargaining from GH₵50,000.00.

After taking the money, the police arrested him and took him to their custody.

The baby has since been handed over to the mother to take care of at Agona Asafo.

According to sources, Mr. Agyemang is of sound mind whose act cannot be blamed on mental instability.
